Alcantarilha is a lovely country town which is split by the EN125 road with the newer residential developments south, and to the north, the old historic Arab town with it's Church and the amazing chapel. In the area, you will find local and very affordable restaurants, shops and cafés. There is a very pretty river valley which leads to the sea. The beach known as Praia Grande in Armação de Pêra is just a few minutes drive where you can watch the fishermen arrive early in the morning with the fresh fish. If you enjoy playing golf, the Golf course of Amendoeiras is only a short drive too.
