Safety, Security and Fiscal Strength: Just another week of good news from Portugal!
Many of our friends and followers will be aware of the many qualities of the central Algarve; with it’s tradition, lifestyle, climate and safety being some of the most popular reasons people are increasingly moving here.
In the last week, we’ve seen further confirmation of Portugal’s commitment to keeping its population and visitors safe, in the form of the annual Internal Security Report (RASI) published by the Homeland Security Council.
In brief, the RASI suggests that Portugal has reported the lowest level of most crimes in the last 15 years, which when compared with most of Europe sets Portugal apart from many European nations.
Whilst opportunistic and online crime is still evident in the region, these decreased crime rates combined with improved home security and proactive Property Management services provide complete peace of mind for many homeowners or second property owners here in the central Algarve.
...also in the news this week was Portugal’s economic figures for the last quarter of 2016.
The good news was that Portugal’s economy ended 2016 on a reasonably strong footing. In the last quarter, the economy benefited from healthy dynamics in the tourism sector and strong investment in Property and ‘Emerging Economies'. Moreover, low interest rates and a declining unemployment rate boosted retail and real estate sales.
According to the latest economic data, this momentum appears to have carried over to 2017, with leading indicators improving in February and industrial production expanding for the third month in a row in January.
Whilst the Portuguese economy is not yet ‘out of the woods’, the winter has been far from gloomy and with enquiries in both our Sales and Services operation being greater than 2016, we can see that 2017 will be a great year for our Clients, and the best ever for our Employees and Partners!
We look forward to welcoming you.
