The Central Algarve: Where traditional & contemporary lifestyles combine.

August is an interesting month on the Algarve. Visitors come in their thousands from across the world, the hotels are full and most properties around us are occupied.

There’s a real sense that August is the crescendo that the area builds itself unto each year, whereas to those of us that live here the year ‘round, it means much more than busier roads and bustling bars and restaurants.

Surprisingly, this year, the weather has been cooler than July and this has meant more consistency in property viewings and instructions, as people have not necessarily hidden themselves from the heat.

It’s also meant that the traditional festivals in Albufeira, Silves and further afield in Faro and Tavira have been much more bearable and this has led to a wonderful mix of locals and visitors at each event.

On Saturday, I was fortunate to visit the wonderful 500 year old festival in honour of Nossa Senhora da Orada, consisting of a beautiful and emotional procession to the sea that seems to involve the entire town.

These festivities honour Nossa Senhora da Orada, the patron saint of fishermen. From our vantage points from Albufeira Marina, right through to Praia Pescadores, one can hardly imagine Albufeira as a small fishing town, but this event really does help visitors consider how important the Ocean was in the past and still is now in 2015.

On the 20th August, Albufeira has it’s own Bank Holiday, celebrating Municipality Day, having been first crowned a city by King Manuel 1st in 1504. This is a superb day for visitors and locals alike, culminating in a music and fireworks festival at Fisherman’s Beach.

And that’s where August winds down, and all the team at Cerro Novo prepare for our busiest time of year.

September is a month where people ‘take stock’ of their properties across northern Europe and make plans to sell or buy (by Christmas!). With our Exclusive Property campaigns launching September and our participation in ‘A Place in the Sun’ at Birmingham NEC from the 24th, it’s going to be a record Autumn / Winter period.

If you’re having early thoughts of buying or selling, now is the time to book your slots for viewings or valuations. Alternatively, if you’d like to talk to us in person, why not visit us at the NEC? Here’s a link for free tickets, as our guest.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, in person, by phone or via our website.
